India is the third largest global spirits market by volume in the world, just behind China and Russia. It is also one of the fastest growing markets. The Indian liquor industry is estimated at nearly $35 billion, growing at a CAGR of around 7% per annum. The IMFL segment, which stands for Indian Made Foreign Liquor is the largest growing segment in the industry comprising of nearly 325 million cases. Of this, 60% is Whisky, 17% is Brandy, 16% is Rum and only 7% is White Spirits. The overall IMFL market is increasing at the rate of 9 - 10% annually.

With more people migrating to bigger cities, they are exposed to a wider variety of alcoholic products including IMFL. About 485 million Indians are currently of drinking age and another 150 million to be added on in the next 5 years. In the last 10 years, the number of drinkers has increased from 1 in 300 to 1 in 20. Alcohol consumption is now more socially acceptable.
