I am delighted with the progress made by I Brands Beverages over the last 6 years, as we have emerged as one of the important players in the market. We have entered our critical growth phase now and are aiming at a pan India footprint by establishing presence in more number of states. At the same time, our international exposure is increasing, as we are expanding in the ASEAN markets as part of our growth strategy. Our product portfolio has gained widespread recognition and acceptance with some of the products winning coveted awards!
India is proving to be a fantastic forum for us to grow in the liquor market. As a US $35 billion industry, and one of the fastest growing liquor consuming countries in the world, it is a hugely lucrative market. Socially, alcohol is gaining much more acceptance amongst consumers as their profile continues to change. The number of alcohol drinkers has increased from 1 in 300 to 1 in 20 in the last 5 years. This shows the huge potential of the Indian market with an increasing number of global players now entering the country.
When I Brands Beverages was founded, I recognised an opportunity in the Indian alcohol industry. We started slow, with I Brands taking the semi urban - village route in distribution of products, growing gradually and steadily over a longer period of time, constantly evolving and perfecting the products, and developing a consumer base. Although it was not the conventional route, it ensured a strong growth curve for the company.
In the last six years we've moved brick to brick and taken the company to where it is today. We've launched 4 phenomenal products in the market in the IMFL segment. We've been honoured with nine awards in our sixth year of operation, both internationally and nationally, industry and non-industry specific and they are a testimony to the hard work and dedication my team has put in. We've forayed globally by launching our products in South East Asia - Cambodia in the first phase and now to Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and China in the second.
I Brands is focused on capitalizing on the growth of the industry with our products that are of premium International standard quality, yet being value for money. We want to continue evolving products that always exceed consumer expectations. We are quite undeniably a product centric company, and our brands have a proven track record of success! Our future objective is to become a top player in the global arena.
While business is growing along the expected lines, it is satisfactory to see our company take up initiatives that make us socially responsible. We, for the first time have launched the I Brands CSR initiative and started working with an NGO in Karnataka, Ashraya in March 2015, helping abused women and providing education to children of migrant labourers, who work in nearby villages from Bangalore. It's a good start. I have also been nominated as an Ambassador of Fight for the Foetus campaign by the Ministry of Women & Child Development in India, to make an effort to stop female foeticide. We've also started work on motivating Women and Young Indian Entrepreneurs, to step out of their comfort zone and build successful careers. We are a part of AWAKE which is the Association of Women Entrepreneurs in Karnataka, as well as DWEN - the Dell Women Entrepreneurs' Network, both being platforms for upcoming women entrepreneurs.
Warm regards,
